Welcome! Let me first say that if you are looking for an outstanding school community that offers your child a highly-competitive education, both on the state and national level, combined with a wide assortment of co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, then look no further! The Manheim Township School District has enjoyed a long tradition of excellence that places it among the educational leaders in Pennsylvania and the nation.
As part of Manheim Township School District's commitment to continued academic achievement and improved accountability, while strengthening our responsiveness to the public, I encourage each member of the community, employees, students and parents to be more involved in our schools. Keeping you informed of what we are doing is an important part of being a responsive school system. As superintendent, I want to be as transparent as possible. Manheim Township School District schools are your schools and our students are your children. We will strive to keep you informed of important issues.
Three important questions guide us here at MTSD as we make our decisions. First, is it good for students? This is the most important question that we ask ourselves. The decision must make a difference in the lives and futures of our students. Second, is the decision educationally sound? Whether it is building a new school or developing a new reading program, we base our decisions on sound scientific data. Third, is it fiscally responsible? This statement doesn't mean that our decision is free or inexpensive (although there is certainly nothing wrong with that). What it means is that are we getting the most "bang for the buck". It is a vision of outcomes that far exceed the upfront costs of implementing a new idea.
