Lancaster Family Field Trip

Your cousin from Oregon called and said that she will be visiting you in Lancaster this summer. She is a real history buff and is excited about coming to Lancaster because she has heard of the many historical sites here. Your mother has decided to let you choose one of the places to visit with your cousin.
 
 

It is now your job to decide where you would like to visit in Lancaster. You must convince your mother that you have made a good choice. After you research three places, you will select one to visit. You will need to write a persuasive letter to your mother telling her why you chose the place you selected. You will then need to visit the place. Finally, you will share the information you learned from your trip with your cousin before she visits.
 
 

• First you will need to check out a few places on the Internet. Click here for a list of places to choose from. Organize your information on the chart provided. You will need to know the location, hours of operation, how much the visit will cost for 2 adults and 2 children, and what you will learn.
• Next, choose one of the three sites you researched and write a letter persuading your mother to take you to the place you chose.
• After persuading your mother to visit the place you chose, take a trip and explore. Gather as much information as you can: talk to employees, take pictures, and get brochures.

Finally, create a brochure that you can send to your cousin to let her know about the trip you have planned for her. Make sure you include: a description of the place visited, some history, why it is important to Lancaster County, and any other items of interest. It should also include at least two pictures, which can be taken from literature collected at the location, pictures taken by your family, or illustrations that you have drawn.
