2017-2018 Budget Update Presentation

On April 20, 2017, The Manheim Township School District presented a 2017-2018 Budget Update to the School Board of Directors.  The presentation was held before the regularly scheduled School Board meeting and was open to the public.

Please keep in mind that this is not the final budget.  This was a budget update to prepare the School Board to vote on a final budget on June 15, 2017.  During the May Work Session on May 11, the District will present a Proposed Final Budget for approval in June.

A few key notes to consider when reviewing the presentation:

  • The school district is fortunate to have a strong general fund balance and have funds set aside for future expenditures, such as PSERS, technology, unanticipated medical claims and debt service.
  • The district also has a healthy capital reserve fund to pay for future planned and unanticipated building and infrastructure needs.
  • The district is hopeful that the changing of the State basic education formula will assist in providing Manheim Township with a fairer and certain revenue stream.
  • Future real estate developments continue to be on-going in Manheim Township and will generate additional real estate tax revenue and Earned Income Tax Revenues.  The district feels that this revenue source will continue on a sustained annual basis.

As always, Manheim Township School District will continue to look for cost efficiencies & reductions, and revenue enhancements, as we develop a final budget for Board approval in June.

The presentation is posted below for community review.
