Happy 2018, Bobcats!
In January, we will be focusing on our Bobcat 5 trait: Excellence. At Brecht’s Back to School Night, I mentioned our focus on learning and fostering the qualities of having a growth mindset, not just for students but also for our entire school community.
Having a growth mindset helps lead us to excellence whether we are working on academic, social or personal goals. Please see the attached resource for more information on how you can help to encourage a growth mindset.
Thank you for adhering to our school district’s attendance guidelines. Just a reminder that educational trip requests must be made 5 days in advance of the trip and excuse notes must be submitted within 3 days of your child’s return to school following an absence. Manheim Township School District is mandated to follow the attendance requirements that are established by the State of Pennsylvania. We recognize that attendance in school is essential to a child’s overall development and success as a student. Attendance guidelines can be found in the Elementary Handbook that was sent home at the beginning of the school year. If you have any questions regarding attendance, please call Brecht’s Office at 291-1733.
The next Brecht PTO meeting is Wednesday, January 10th at 6:30 p.m. Childcare will be provided. The PTO Dance Party will be held Friday January 19th at 6:00pm and our Project Fair/Book Fair is Wednesday January 31st at 6:00pm. We look forward to seeing our Brecht families for these fun events at school.
After the holiday break, we will return to school on Tuesday, January 2nd. There is no school on Monday January 15th and an early dismissal on Tuesday January 30th.
It is a pleasure to work with the Brecht Community. I look forward to the energy that a new year brings as well as a year filled with a growth mindset, learning, and fun. I look forward to seeing you in 2018!
