It’s June! Happy summer, Bobcats!
The 2017-18 school year is quickly coming to an end! I know many of our families are gearing up for summer fun. Don’t forget about reading over the summer. Also, keep practicing those math facts. Kids like schedules so be sure to include some learning time into your summer days.
Plan to come to Brecht with your child on four Tuesdays in July: July 10th, 17th, 24thand 31st for Brecht’s Summer Garden/Reading Program. Thanks to our PTO for sponsoring this fun summer activity. We will be meeting in the Brecht garden from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Students must be accompanied by an adult. Sign up for this program is required (you can sign up for one or all of the offered dates) by using this link: www.SignUpGenius.com/go/10C0E4FA4AF2FA3F85-brecht4
New student orientation will be on Wednesday, August 15th from 10:00-12:00 p.m. This is a great chance for new students to check out their classrooms and our school. If you would like to practice walking your child to his/her classroom in anticipation of the first day of school, you will be able to do that on August 15th between 10:00-12:00 p.m. Children will walk independently to their classrooms on the first day of school, Monday, August 27th. Of course, teachers and staff members will assist students in getting to their classrooms on the first day!
Kindergarten students will have Kindergarten Open House with their parent(s)/guardian(s) on Monday, August 27th. Kindergarten students first independent day of school will be on Tuesday, August 28th. The PTO Welcome Back to School Ice Cream Social will be held on Wednesday, August 22nd from 6-7 p.m. on the Brecht playground. Be sure to come out to enjoy some ice cream while you and your child visit with teachers and friends.
I want to thank our school community for an awesome year. We wish our 4th graders the best as they transition to Landis Run Intermediate School. For our incoming kindergartners, and future first through fourth graders, we will see you back at school on August 27th. Each year brings new possibilities, lots of learning and a school community focused on what’s best for kids.
Have a safe and happy summer,
