Happy May, Bobcats!
Our Bobcat theme for May is respect. With the final month of school upon us, we have already begun planning for the 2019-2020 school year. Next year, we will be implementing K-6 PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports). Our elementary schools and intermediate school will focus on 3 traits: Respect, Responsibility and Safety. These will connect with the Bobcat 5: Respect, Responsibility, Cooperation, Kindness, and Excellence. Stay tuned for more information about PBIS when the new school year begins.
On May 10th, Brecht will host a Bobcat Mom’s/VIP Breakfast. I would like to thank the Lancaster Barnstormers for sponsoring our May breakfast. We are excited that Cylo from the Barnstormers will be our visitor for the breakfast. Our focus will be on literacy and will include fun tips and ideas to incorporate over the summer. This will be our third breakfast of the school year. Our breakfasts depend on sponsorships. Each breakfast costs approximately $600.00. Please let me know if you or a business you know would be interested in sponsoring or co-sponsoring a future breakfast. Thank you to the Cub Scouts, Brecht’s PTO, the Lancaster Barnstormers, and Brecht’s awesome staff for sponsoring our breakfasts this school year.
There are a lot of terrific and fun events planned for May.

I look forward to seeing many of you before the 2018-2019 school year comes to a close. Our PTO is sponsoring a fun summer reading/garden open house program on Tuesdays in July (July 9, 16, 23, 30). These open houses will be from 9:00 a.m.-10:30 a.m. There will be fun garden learning, reading, and eating during these parent-child sessions. More information about the program and how to sign-up for these sessions will be coming home soon!
Don’t forget that learning is fun all summer long! If you need ideas for summer work, please contact your child’s teacher. Please be sure that reading is part of your child’s daily schedule. Thank you for your support. Have a wonderful summer!
