Three Manheim Township High School athletes who earned All-America honors will be inducted into the school’s Athletic Hall of Fame on Friday, September 13, 2019. There will be a light reception for the inductees and their families, followed by an introduction at halftime of the Manheim Township-Penn Manor football game.
They are: Dan DeMasters, Class of 2004; Alexandra Leslie (2014) and Matt Grossman (2014.)
Dan DeMasters lettered in soccer, cross country and swimming. He was the 2003 L-L League MVP and the Pennsylvania Gatorade Player in soccer. He was named a high school All-American that same year. He set the school record for assists and helped lead the Streaks to a pair of Lancaster-Lebanon League titles. DeMasters played collegiately for Villanova University where he earned a spot on the Big East All-Rookie and Big East third team honors. He played semi-professional soccer. He teaches and coaches at Thompson High School in Alabaster, Alabama.
Alexandra Leslie led the Manheim Township girls basketball team to four consecutive Section One championships from 2011-14. She scored 1,365 points in her career and was named Section One MVP and LL Player of the Year her senior year. She earned the US Army National Scholar Athlete award that year. Leslie played collegiately for the University of Rochester where she was a four-time Women’s Basketball Coaches Association All-American. The team reached the NCAA Division III national tournament three time during her tenure, including two Elite Eight appearances. She was named to the University Athletic Association first team all four years and earned UAA Rookie and Player of the Year honors.
Matt Grossmann compiled a record of 136-31 as a high school wrestler and was a PIAA silver medalist in 2012. He was a two-time Lancaster-Lebanon League champion, a four-time Section One All-Star and helped the Streaks win the 2013 LL tournament. He excelled at Wilkes University where he was the 2015 National Champion at 133 pounds and was named the national Freshman Wrestler of the Year and MAC Rookie and Wrestler of the Year. He was a two-time NCAA qualifier and currently serves as a graduate assistant coach at Wilkes.
