Hello Manheim Township Families,
We are reaching out to you for your help with reminding your student about a few key rules to follow when riding district transportation.
We have two essential rules for our students who ride the bus to and from school. They include:
(1) Students must sit in their assigned seats.
(2) Students must wear their masks at all times.
These two rules are essential to the implementation of our district’s Health & Safety Plan as required by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, and they apply on all of our buses, just as they do within our school-buildings. Currently, we are being challenged by some of our students not adhering to the above rules on the bus, and we are requesting your help in reinforcing these expectations with your student(s).
Our bus drivers do their best to enforce these expectations, however, their priority is driving the vehicle and getting all of our students to and from school safely. At the beginning of the school year, every bus established a seating chart for riders which guides our contact tracing efforts in the event of exposure to COVID. When students sit somewhere other than their assigned seats on the bus, it complicates our contact tracing procedures by making the seating chart ineffective. This inaccuracy may result in the possibility of your student being needlessly quarantined from school. Conversely, this inaccuracy could also inhibit our ability to quarantine the appropriate students, therefore increasing the risk of exposure to other students and staff.
Please remind your bus-riding students to always wear their masks, respect their bus driver’s instructions, and sit in their assigned seats for the duration of their bus rides to and from school. Our teachers and principals will also be reminding our students of these two important rules.
We greatly appreciate your assistance and support in keeping our students and staff safe and healthy.
