Hello, Nitrauer Families,
I hope you had a good week. We were busy here at Nitrauer! On Monday we had our October fire drill. Nitrauer Knights were very quick and quiet when exiting the building and standing with their class on the playground. Good work!
If you have not yet completed the online survey about Nitrauer, please do so. We will use the survey responses to help guide our school’s comprehensive plan. Please see below for Nitrauer’s upcoming events and important information. Please read carefully–we don’t want you to miss a thing!
Have a great weekend!
Next week at Nitrauer:
Wednesday, November 8th – Early Dismissal at 1:40pm
Friday, November 10th – Deadline for Pottery Painting orders (Pottery Painting 2017)
*Nitrauer Knights Spirit Wear products can still be ordered online at: Nitrauer Spirit Wear 2017 through the end of the day today, Friday, November 3rd!
*We have many opportunities to make this November a month of giving:
- Nitrauer families and staff are invited to donate food and/or money, including vouchers for free turkeys, for our Thanks-GIVING project. The donations will be used to create food baskets for families in our Nitrauer community who are in need. Collection boxes will be in each classroom as well as the office from November 1st – 15th. See 2017 Thanksgiving Food Drive for more information. Feel free to contact Missy Weaver, School Counselor, at 735-1529 or email@example.com any questions.
- As cooler weather approaches, there is a true need for clothing within our community. From November 1st – 30th, there will be a box in the office lobby for donations of gently used clothing, coats, hats, gloves, & shoes. Items will be donated to Lydia’s Closet. See Clothing Drive 2017 for more information. Email Kelly Fogleman at firstname.lastname@example.org or Diana Everhart-Hanna email@example.com with questions.
- On Friday, November 17th, go the EXTRA mile for the Manheim Township Educational Foundation. On that day, MTEP is participating in the Extraordinary Give, Lancaster Country’s Largest Day of Giving. For 24 hours only, visit https://extragive.org/ to make a donation. Any donation made online that day will be partially matched by the Lancaster County Community Foundation.
*Unfortunately, the delivery of our student pictures is very delayed this year! They are to be delivered to the school next Tuesday, November 7th. Picture re-take day will be Tuesday, November 14th.
*Do you have any pictures of Nitrauer events? If so, please email them to firstname.lastname@example.org for possible entry in this year’s yearbook. If you have any questions, contact Diana at email@example.com.
*The Book Nook will NOT be occurring this month. Our October Book Nook was so successful that we do not yet have enough books to hold another one. We continue to be in need of elementary (K-4) picture and chapter books to allow for ongoing successful Book Nooks. Please consider donating any books that your children have outgrown. Books can be dropped off in the office.
*Nitrauer’s first Mix It Up Lunch will be Friday, November 17th! Students consistently identify the cafeteria as a place in their school where divisions are clearly and harshly drawn. To help overcome this, we ask students to move out of their comfort zones and connect with someone new over lunch. Studies have shown that interactions across group line can help reduce prejudice. When students interact with those who are different from them, biases & misperceptions can fall away. For more information and to volunteer for this event, see: Mix It Up Lunch Sign Up. Clearances are required.
* Join us Saturday, December 2nd in the Nitrauer Cafeteria for Nitrauer’s Annual Holiday Pottery Painting to create hand painted items for the holiday season! More information and an order form will being sent home with students soon. All orders must be pre-ordered and pre-paid by next Friday, November 10th. We hope to see everyone there!
*MTSD presents: “Choose your own training” parent seminar on Thursday, November 16th from 6:30-7:30pm at the Middle School. See Parent Seminar for more information. Please RSVP to Amy Spina at 717-560-3118 or firstname.lastname@example.org or to Danielle Heisler at 717-560-3089 or email@example.com.
*As the weather is getting cooler, please be involved in your children’s school clothing choices as much as possible, and have them bring jackets for recess.
