PSSAs

We will be starting PSSA’s for 3rd and 4th grade soon and we have a couple of things that we need everyone to keep in mind. PSSA’s will be April 16th-18th (ELA), April 30th –May 1st (Math), and May 2nd – May 3rd (Science – 4th Grade). If you are bringing a child in late that is in grades Kindergarten-2nd we ask that you enter the school in silence and please be patient, as we need someone to walk the student to their classroom. If a student is late in grades 3 or 4 and testing has begun they will need to wait in the office until testing is complete to go to class. They will need to make up the test that they have missed at another time. We ask that parents of students in grades 3 and 4 avoid scheduling any early dismissals or late arrivals during this time. We can not dismiss any 3rd or 4th graders during testing, if you come to dismiss a child in the middle of testing from those grades we will not be able to dismiss them until all testing is complete. We will not be having volunteers during this time unless permission has been granted. If you have any questions or concerns please call the office.

PSSA Color Days

During PSSA’s we have the PSSA color days when students can wear the colors listed below to show support for their fellow classmates.

Tuesday, April 16– Be Brave! Wear a RED shirt to school. Red is the color of bravery & encourages confidence.

Wednesday, April 17– Just Chill! Wear a BLUE shirt to school. Blue is very calming & aids in intuition.

Thursday, April 18– Victory! In ancient Greece, green was the color of victory. Wear a GREEN shirt to show your victory!

Tuesday, April 30– Fresh start! Wear WHITE to show that you are ready to make a clean start!

Wednesday, May 1– A Bit of Sunshine! Wear a YELLOW shirt to school. Yellow activates your mind & puts a smile on your face!

Thursday, May 2– Wear BLACK and get ready to tackle the science PSSA!

Friday, May 3– Wear a PURPLE shirt to school. Purple is the color of royalty! You’ve conquered the PSSA like a king or queen!

School Wide Assembly

On Wednesday, April 24th we will have s school wide assembly from the Barn Hill Preserve. Barn Hill Preserve is a small, family run zoo in Delaware and Louisiana. Their mobile educators travel around the United States to show animal education programs to schools preK-8th and we are lucky enough to have them coming to our school. We will be sending home forms if you would like to purchase things from the Barn Hill Preserve including pictures of your kids with the different animals. Thank you so much to our amazing PTO for arranging such a great assembly.

We hope you have a great April and enjoy all of our fun activities that are on the way!

Sincerely,

RES Staff
