MANHEIM TOWNSHIP SCHOOL DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD VACANCY

On February 19, 2026, the Board of School Directors of the Manheim Township School District accepted at that evening’s Board Meeting a Board Member vacancy effective March 4, 2026. In accordance with the School Laws of Pennsylvania, the remaining members of the Board intend to fill the vacancy at a public meeting within thirty (30) days. The individual appointed will serve the remainder of the open term until the first Monday in December of 2027. In addition to being a current resident of the District, Section 322 of the Public School Code of 1949 as amended limits eligibility to: “Any citizen of this Commonwealth, having a good moral character, being eighteen (18) years of age or upwards, and having been a resident of the district for at least one (1) year, prior to the date of his election or appointment.” There are further limitations relating to those who hold other government offices or positions in the School District. Eligible individuals interested in being considered for this vacant office should submit a letter of interest, which must be received via email to boardsecretary@mtwp.net by noon on Thursday, March 5, 2026. The letter of interest must include the applicant’s address, home, and work telephone numbers, email address, current resume, and a statement of the reasons why the applicant desires to serve as a School Director. Each new eligible candidate will be interviewed at a Special Public Meeting following the Work Session to be held on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at 7:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Manheim Township District Office, 450A Candlewyck Road, Lancaster, PA 17601. The Board of School Directors intends to appoint the new Director to fill the current vacancy at the Voting Meeting to be held on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at the Manheim Township District Office, 450A Candlewyck Road Lancaster, PA 17601 beginning at 6:00 p.m. The newly appointed Director will be sworn in on the evening of the Facilities Committee Meeting on Thursday, April 2, 2026.
